Alessandra Scandella, 2026
Alessandra Scandella’s work begins with a search for balance between form and space, presence and absence.
In Madre Natura, the image unfolds around a central subject, often surrounded by areas of white, where colour can breathe and gain intensity.
Working with watercolor and ink, she uses a restrained palette, allowing tones to resonate through contrast rather than abundance.
Water and pigment move freely across the surface, creating fluid marks that echo organic forms and natural rhythms.
Fine ink lines enter with precision, grounding the image while leaving space for spontaneity.
Her work moves between gesture and stillness: an invitation to pause, where nature is not described, but quietly evoked.
Alessandra Scandella is a Milan-based illustrator working across editorial, fashion and design.
She co-founded Studio Container and works primarily with watercolor and ink on cotton paper, favouring natural pigments and handmade techniques.
Her work spans major Italian editorial publications and international brands, including Corriere della Sera, Domus, Il Sole 24 ORE, Tod’s, Bulgari and San Pellegrino.
Her illustrations have been exhibited at institutions such as the Triennale di Milano, Gallerie d’Italia and Mudec Museum of Cultures.
She currently teaches at IED – Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan.
